Reset retained values

Retained (RETAIN) variables keep their values across runtime restarts. During commissioning or after a recipe change you may want to wipe those values so the runtime starts clean.

Reset retained values from the Portal

1. Open the Portal and navigate to Devices.
2. Select the device.
3. In the Runtime panel, open the More actions menu.
4. Choose Reset retained values.
5. Confirm in the dialog.

The runtime stops briefly, retained memory is cleared, then the runtime starts again with each retained variable at its declared initial value.

Note

The reset is recorded in the device’s Activity log, so supervisors can see when and from where it was triggered.

Danger

Resetting retained values is destructive — recipes, counters, and any other RETAIN variable will lose their current values. Make sure the machine is in a safe state before continuing.
